Wisps of Wil-O Alternate Ending

Ah yes! Down time, something that I had been finding increasingly hard to come by these days in the middle of the desert that is Iraq. I had pulled a few strings and managed to get my DSi shipped here overseas along with a few Pokémon games, it was difficult and most of it had been done by a friend of mine in the logistics division but that's besides the point. The point is that I was going to finally get a chance to play SoulSilver after finishing my ten hour patrol, nothing major had happened and I was thankful for that....
  I started SoulSilver like normal and loaded the save game that I had, when it finally loaded I smiled, there dutifully waiting my return was my Shiny Ninetales that I had caught as a Vulpix early in the game, naming her Wisp. She was a sight to behold, her fur was a grey that almost looked like gunmetal. It reminded me of the M4A1 Carbine that was lying next to me as I was playing. As per usual when I would load up the game I would interact with her and she would jump for joy and show off her agility to me, which I found to be very cute. What? Just because i'm in the Military doesn't mean that I can't think something is cute. I continued to play the game as normal and was about to challenge the Elite Four when I realized something... I had never checked Wisp's nature! I quickly brought up the Party menu in game and selected Wisp. After looking over her information carefully I found that her nature read CARING, which I found odd because in battle she would utterly decimate any enemy we would come up against.
  But then again, it was just a game right? We started the Elite Four challenge and right off the bat I had Wisp use Wil-o-wisp on Will's first Pokémon. Bronzor, was burned like any other Pokémon hit with Wil-o-wisp and lost HP at the end of the turn. On the next turn I had Wisp use Inferno to knock out Bronzor and so the cycle went on. We defeated the Elite Four and then Lance, entering the hall of fame. Completing the game, after this I loaded my Save again and I was back at my character's home in his room. Wisp was still with me and I smiled before interacting with her again. Suddenly a dialogue box appeared with the Answer choice of Yes or No, it read 'Do you want to continue fighting?' I was hesitant but decided to press No. My DSi began to glow and before I knew what was happening Wisp was sitting in front of me... Her red eyes scanned over me, calm, collected, and caring. "if you do not wish to fight follow me." a voice whispered in my head, I looked around but no one was there other than Wisp. I looked at her carefully and asked, her if she had said it.
  She gave a curt nod and stood before walking out of the bunk area calmly.... Against my better judgement I decided to follow her out. I was surprised to find that the camp was deserted, no activity anywhere, even the night watch guards were gone. I felt uneasy but continued to follow Wisp out of the camp and along the road leading deep into the desert. Once the camp was out of sight Wisp stopped and turned back to me with a sad look in her eyes, "Forgive me." was all I heard in my mind as she became engulfed in Searing Blue Flames, she tackled me and I immediately let out a cry of pain as the intense heat slowly began to burn my clothing and skin away. "Sometimes we care to much." was the last thing I would ever hear, and the last sight my eyes saw before they burned away was Wisp's own caring eyes closing. The. Everything went white...

I bolted upright and looked around while gasping for breath... I wasn't dead and I was no longer in the middle of the desert... I was in the infirmary and my chest was bandaged tightly... "Easy now, you're okay Marine!" someone shouted from the left, I looked over and saw that it was a corpsman who shouted... "what happened?" I asked... 
"IED... What the hell were you thinking? Leaving the camp at night for christ's sake!" he shook his head and came closer, "You've been out for three days, the weird thing was... You were in the middle of the blast zone but you only sustained one burn and virtually no trauma from the blast itself. You're a damn lucky bastard."
 I shook my head and sat forward a bit, "When can I get out of here?" I asked.
"You should be able to leave now." he replied and began removing the bandage on my chest before leaving the infirmary... I looked down to where the burn was and gasped in shocked! The now healed burn was shaped like a paw-print, a Ninetales paw-print, and inside the burn was what looked like a tattoo of a shiny Ninetales! It was then that Wisp's words echoed through my mind again, 'Sometimes we care to much.'
